2019-2020 Points of Emphasis

The Canadian Basketball Officials Commission (CBOC) has recently established the National Points of Emphasis for the 2019/20 season.  A comprehensive presentation (CBOC National Points of Emphasis 2019-2020) has been shared with local executive boards for use in local education processes.

CBOC strongly believes that the POE’s from last season should remain a focus once again this season so that they become systematic and consistently applied across the nation.  However, you will note that a fourth POE – Unsportsmanlike Foul – has been added to this year’s presentation.  The addition was a result of feedback received from a number of resources across the country.

Therefore, the POE’s identified for the 2019-2020 season are:

  1. ILLEGAL CONTACT (Dribbler, Off-Ball, Post Play)
  2. SCREENING
  3. GAME CONTROL
  4. UNSPORTSMANLIKE FOUL

CBOC has worked with CABO to ensure the message across the country is consistent for all coaches, officials, and players moving forward.
